Vocal Coaching Success Story – Kirsty
This week’s vocal coaching success story features a fantastic client, Kirsty, who wanted to share her journey of vocal transformation. Kirsty and I began working together a couple of years ago, and what has taken place in her voice since then has been nothing short of remarkable.
Meet Kirsty
Kirsty is a wife and mother living in West Bridgford. She got in touch initially to strengthen her voice for some of the more contemporary songs being sung in her choir. Kirsty is a member of BeVox choir in Nottingham — a fantastic group that covers everything from modern pop to classic rock anthems. It’s a true vocal workout for any singer.
When she first contacted me, Kirsty was finding the repertoire increasingly challenging. She had always sung as a classical soprano, and while this worked beautifully for more traditional pieces, the moment her choir shifted into rockier, more contemporary territory, her chest voice just couldn’t keep up. The power wasn’t there — and she knew she needed support.
Why Kirsty Chose to Work with Me
After browsing various vocal coaches and singing teachers in Nottingham, Kirsty came across my site and began reading through my client testimonials. She told me later that it was the speed and clarity of results mentioned in those testimonials that convinced her I was the right person to help her.
Kirsty initially booked in for just one or two lessons — hoping to unlock something quickly. And by her own admission, the difference she felt even in those first few sessions was massive. She has been studying with me regularly ever since.
The Transformation
Kirsty’s voice has improved dramatically. Her vocal range now spans well over three octaves, and every single note from bottom to top is connected. She can move seamlessly between registers with power, balance, and clarity — all while maintaining control and consistency.
But it’s not just the range or power that has impressed me most.
More Than Technique
One of the most encouraging things about Kirsty’s journey has been her mindset and awareness. I remember a conversation we had a while back about tone quality — and how the sound itself is what truly defines a singer, beyond just range or volume.
Kirsty recognised that early. She noticed that her tone was deepening, developing richness and focus. That kind of insight — and the ability to pursue tone, not just technique — is something that often takes years. Her ability to internalise and apply those principles so early is one of the reasons her voice has come so far.
Kirsty’s story is a great reminder that the right guidance, paired with the right mindset, can create serious results — and quickly.
